The game of basketball is my passion. Whenever I get to play, it is an opportunity to get away from any stress in my life. I am able to do something I love with a group of individuals who love doing the same. I did not play basketball for 2 years out of high school. Needless to say, it was a tough time in my life. I do believe that it is not a coincidence. I missed being a part of a team and at the time did not know I would ever have that opportunity again. Since I have been a part of Cal Maritime's basketball program I have made lifetime friends and am truly thankful for that. I care about the guys that are or have been a part of our program. Everybody that has been a part of Cal Maritime basketball has made an impact on my life in a very positive way. We have coaches who genuinely care and players who are good hearted people. That combination makes for an absolutely wonderful environment and it is something that I will cherish.
The most memorable sports achievement in my life is the league championship that our program received the 2009-2010 season at Cal Maritime. It demonstrated that no matter the odds, if you are a part of a team that truly cares for one another and works toward a common goal, good things will happen. This is my senior year of school and basketball so I have one more opportunity to be apart of something very special. I want to graduate from this program, leaving it much better than it once was, and we have the opportunity to do that this year. Approximately five months from now I want to re-read this and be able to add a few additions.
I have been recognized for certain things in the past. The first sports award I received was "most inspirational" during my sophomore year of high school. Last year, I was fortunate enough to receive the "coach's award," which is something that I will hold dear to my heart. Many others were very deserving of such an award and that is something I will remember forever. It does feel good to be recognized by a coach or anybody for that matter for something that you are doing well. Consequently, it is infinitely better if it truly makes an impact on those around you and that is what I strive for day in and day out. I am very appreciative that I am a part of this thing.
